The awarding of scholarships for individuals from fairs to participate in advanced educational programming is a vital activity of the IAFE Education Foundation.  Establishing a scholarship through the IAFE Education Foundation will enable IAFE members the opportunity to advance their industry knowledge through the IAFE Institute of Fair Management.  A scholarship is structured to benefit members.  The IAFE Education Foundation is responsible for the scholarship administration process and the donated funds are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The Institute of Fair Management is a great educational opportunity, no matter your level of fair involvement.  While everyone appreciates the fun, entertainment, and education that fairs provide, the importance of learning the business and operational aspects of fair operations is critical to long-term success.

Here are the real-life impacts of IAFE Education Foundation Scholarships:

Eileen Walsh-Grzenia

Walworth County Fair, Elkhorn, Wis.

The Bob Williams Scholarship profoundly benefited my educational endeavors by:
1) providing generous financial support; 2) inspiring me to successfully enhance my contributions to my fair and beyond; 3) creating a platform for me to engage, learn, and share with a bounty of new fair friends; and 4) empowering my focus that fairs are truly Grand Champions in showcasing agriculture, community, education, wholesome family entertainment and fun ... yesterday, today, and triumphantly into the future.

Holly Rader

Souix Empire Fair, Sioux Falls, S.D.

I would not be able to travel and experience all that IAFE, specifically the Institute of Fair Management, has to
offer if it were not for generous supporters who believe in the future of our industry, like Fair Publishing House. Being a newer member of the Sioux Empire Fair Board, I am eager to learn and explore the many opportunities we have yet to unfold at our fair. The courses and networking available through the Institute provide the best avenue to discover possibilities and resources to make our fair the best it can be. I would not be a part of this discussion if it were not for the financial support of the Fair Publishing House Scholarship.

Marlene Jolliffe, CFE

State Fair of Virginia, Doswell, Va.

When I learned of Rhonda Livingstone’s passing, I knew immediately the best way to honor her was through the IAFE Education Foundation. Rhonda proved that you can “Dream Big” and accomplish an incredible amount with limited resources. It’s incredibly rewarding to give back to the fair industry by being a philanthropic role model for our next generation of fair executives and leaders.

Tom Eshelman

Shenandoah County Fair Association, Woodstock, Va.

The Institute of Fair Management road has been an incredibly educational and memorable trip. Like my Fair, I am sure that there are many other Fairs out there, that encourage someone from their Fair, in attending IFM programs, but unfortunately cannot provide the financial support. The ETIX Scholarship, available through the IAFE, has been a valuable resource, aiding me in attending IFM classes and seminars.  I encourage all persons seeking a next level “Fair” experience to apply and discover what the IFM is  all about.

Miki Martin

Glenn County Fairgrounds, Orland, Calif.

I have greatly appreciated all the courses through IFM. The instructors are very knowledgeable in their teachings and I value the opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals in the Fair Industry.  I love that the courses offered cover everything a manager in the Fair Industry would come across. While enrolled in IFM, I moved into my current position as CEO of the Glenn County Fair. Being an enrollee in the Institute set me apart from other candidates and has given me the knowledge needed to be a successful Manager. I am from a small fair with a small budget and fund a lot of the courses myself so the Fair Publishing Scholarship helps offset the costs of the courses. Without the help of scholarships, I wouldn’t be able to participate in the IFM. Thank you Fair Publishing for supporting the Institute of Fair Management.
