About Darwin Fuchs

The IAFE recently lost a great friend of the industry with the passing of Darwin Fuchs on Sunday, January 23. 2022.  Darwin may best be remembered for his 34-year tenure with the Dade County Youth Fair, now known as the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition.  He was active in the IAFE, working on several committees, attaining his CFE in 1979, and serving as Treasurer and Board Chair.  He was inducted into the IAFE Hall of Fame in 1994.

Darwin was always willing to share his knowledge of the fair industry with others.  After he retired from the fair, Darwin remained involved and engaged in the fair industry, attending meetings and visiting with friends and colleagues as often as he could.  IAFE President and CEO Marla Calico said, “He never lost his passion for the industry nor the IAFE…. He always kept in touch and watched how things were going for the Association.”

The IAFE Education Foundation, Darwin’s family, and the Miami-Dade Youth Fair have established a memorial scholarship for enrollees of the IAFE Institute of Fair Management to honor Darwin’s service and passion for our industry. We invite you to join us in creating this lasting remembrance of our dear friend, Darwin Fuchs.
